Sanday builds with AMIS Conclusion

The volume of data within Sanday continues to grow. At the same time, it involves sensitive medical information and business-critical processes that must remain available at all times. Sanday was therefore looking for more than a way to move data to the cloud. It needed a future-proof platform combining scalability, performance, security and compliance.

The challenge: migrating more than 8 TB of data in a controlled way, with minimal impact on daily operations and a reliable fallback scenario for added assurance.

Together with Sanday, AMIS designed a migration approach that prioritised continuity from the outset. Instead of a traditional ‘big bang’ migration, the new cloud environment was carefully built and prepared alongside the existing environment. Data was synchronised in advance, so only the latest changes needed to be processed during the actual migration. This enabled the final switchover to take place within minutes. A fallback scenario was also established, giving Sanday a controlled way back throughout the transition. Security, privacy, performance and management were incorporated directly into the design of the new platform.
