On Thursday 9 October 2025, we are hosting a brand-new edition of Business Improvement & Innovation Day at Conclusion Intelligence’s office in Amsterdam’s Houthavens district.
Customers share their stories: strategy shapes insight
Many organisations recognise the value of data and AI. But how do you turn insights into results and become a truly data-driven organisation? To inspire you, we are hosting this afternoon of interactive sessions for the seventh time.
Keynote: Staying on course in a data-driven world
This year’s keynote will be delivered by Pieter Cobelens, retired Major General and former Director of the Dutch Military Intelligence and Security Service (MIVD). As Director of Operations, Pieter played a key role in missions in Iraq and Afghanistan and transformed the MIVD into a modern, leading organisation. Since leaving military service, he has continued his personal mission: strengthening the Netherlands’ cybersecurity through home-grown capabilities.
With decades of experience in Defence and as a strategic adviser to businesses, he understands how to stay on course when pressure increases. In a world where data, technology and security are increasingly interconnected, Pieter offers a clear perspective on risk, agility and digital resilience.
Breakout sessions
After the keynote, you can attend two breakout sessions of your choice. Our customers will share their data journeys and the lessons they have learned along the way. Click on the sessions below for more information.
Speaker: Gerrit Zijlstra (Manager of Business Intelligence, Data Foundations & Innovation). How do you bring data to life within an organisation? Gerrit explains how KPN uses data, interdisciplinary collaboration and a shared understanding to become data-driven. His session explores data ownership, change management and the power of visualisation. Through practical examples and insights, he demonstrates how to use data effectively to improve decision-making at every organisational level. Expect clear lessons, familiar challenges and tangible results that inspire you to make data an integral part of lasting success.
Speaker: Dennis Lenting (Product Owner). How do you ensure maritime pilots are on board on time, and how can your organisation manage this performance? In this breakout session, Dennis explains how Loodswezen developed dashboards that provide insight into the punctuality of pilotage services at each port. He connects the policy framework of the Netherlands Authority for Consumers and Markets (ACM) with operational reality, showing how targeted management information supports better decision-making. Dennis discusses technical and functional choices, including distinguishing between factors within and beyond the organisation’s control and visualising performance against current working practices. A session for anyone looking to use data to manage quality, reliability and customer expectations.
Speaker: Otto van Bergen (CFO and Head of Data & IT). How do you structure your data so it works today and is ready for tomorrow? In his breakout session, Otto explains how Opcharge, a provider of electric vehicle charging solutions, uses data to achieve operational excellence and prepare for its next phase of growth. Reliable insights help the company manage EV charging locations, plan maintenance, make better-informed investment decisions and develop new business models. Otto offers a behind-the-scenes look at his data strategy: what works and what does not work yet? He shares lessons learned and practical insights for anyone looking to scale through data-driven decision-making.
Speaker: Maarten van Pagée (DevSecOps Manager). In a world where everyone needs healthcare or knows someone who does, reliable and accessible patient data is vital. During this breakout session, Maarten takes you through the transformation of a traditional ‘digital patient record card’ into an advanced IT system through a multicloud strategy in primary care. He explains how this approach significantly improves the availability and reliability of patient data. Using multiple cloud providers creates a high degree of data redundancy, keeping information accessible even if one provider experiences an outage. This strengthens continuity of care and minimises the risk of data loss. It also provides the flexibility and scalability essential for high-quality healthcare.
Speaker: Dr Ingrid den Uijl (Data & IT Manager). Transdev Netherlands, known for its Connexxion bus services, taxis and Witte Kruis ambulances, is a market leader in passenger transport, carrying half a million passengers every day. The company faced major challenges across its data and IT landscape. In her session, Dr Ingrid den Uijl explains how Transdev modernised this landscape, with its numerous applications and legacy systems, and prepared it for the future. This transformation extends beyond Data & IT to the entire organisation. In a short time, Transdev has made significant progress towards data-driven working, resulting in greater agility and better insights. Through compelling real-world examples, Ingrid demonstrates the impact of this transformation.
