Digital independence AI Event

The rise of artificial intelligence presents unprecedented opportunities, but also raises fundamental questions: Who controls our data? How do we safeguard public values in algorithms? And how can we avoid dependence on foreign technologies that may not align with our norms and interests?

On Tuesday 17 June from 14:00 to 18:00 at Nieuwspoort in The Hague representatives from government, the private sector and knowledge institutions came together for a strategic gathering to discuss digital independence as a foundation for responsible AI.

Programma

This afternoon was all about connection, insight and action. Under the guidance of moderator Karen van der Zanden, we explored how to develop shared frameworks that strengthen our digital sovereignty, foster innovation and place public values at the heart of AI development.

The following themes were addressed:

  • Digital sovereignty and AI infrastructure
  • Public values in AI systems
  • Collaboration between government and market players

With contributions from, among others, Ger Baron, CTO, City of Amsterdam, and Michiel Boots, Director-General for Economy and Digitalisation, Ministry of Economic Affairs.
